LOCATION
Broughton Gifford lies between Bradford on Avon and Melksham in Wiltshire and is only 20-30 minutes from the World Heritage city of Bath. It is a peaceful conservation village and boasts a large common with 2 ponds, 2 pubs, both with restaurants, 2 churches and is surrounded by beautiful open countryside. The National Trust's Chalfield manor is only a mile away and has been the location for many period drama's.
The Surrounding Area
The beautiful Roman city of Bath, set at the bottom of the Cotswolds, offers great shopping, Roman Baths, city tour buses, The Abbey, antique shops, Jane Austen Museum, Pulteney Bridge, Pump Rooms and “Thermae Spa” Britain’s original and only thermal spa.
Bradford on Avon is a Saxon Market town and has "The River Avon" and "The Avon and Kennett" canal running through it. Lovely walks, individual shops, cycle hire and cream teas are all here.
There are a number of National Trust Properties nearby including Lacock Abbey Fox Talbot Museum and Village, The Courts Garden, Dyrham Park, Prior Park Landscape Gardens and Stourhead.
Within reasonable driving distances and well worth exploring are Westonbirt Arboretum, UK's largest tree museum, Longleat Safari Park and House, The White Horse of Westbury, the Cathedral city of Salisbury and the ancient circles of Stonehenge and Avebury.
